Since 2005, Fricke has been serving in the institutions of the EU. In September 2018, he rejoined the Delegation of the European Union to Türkiye as the Head of the Section for Civil Society, Fundamental Rights, Judiciary and Home Affairs. Alexander Fricke has many years of experience regarding the EU enlargement policy. Previously, for several years, he served as a negotiator and policy officer for Croatia’s accession to the EU and Montenegro’s EU accession process at the European Commission’s headquarters in Brussels. His previous assignments abroad include; the EU Delegation to Bangladesh, the EU Delegation in Ankara, and working for a humanitarian civil society organisation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
